THREE DAY ESCALANTE Canyoneering ADVENTURE

Overview: This 3-day adventure takes you through some of the most stunning and remote canyons in the Escalante area. Based on your preferences, you can either enjoy the comfort of local hotels in Escalante (added cost) or experience high-quality backcountry camping. Our guided trips are designed with flexibility in mind, ensuring that we tailor each day’s objectives to current conditions and the abilities of the group. For our set date trips, they will all be run with backcountry camping as the only option.

Day 1: Exploration and Introduction

  • Objective: Start with an accessible canyon such as Zebra and Tunnel Canyons or Egypt 0 or 1.

  • Details: We’ll head out after breakfast, ensuring plenty of time to get comfortable with the gear and terrain. If staying in a hotel, we’ll meet in the morning for a briefing. If camping, we’ll enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast by the guides before heading out.

Day 2: Adventure and Deeper Exploration

  • Objective: Choose from more challenging routes like Egypt 2 or 3. These feature a 300’ mostly free hanging entry rappel, and tighter squeezes than previous canyons. Both of these canyons take the majority of the day. Any extra time at the end of the day can be used practicing guided rappels if the group desires.

  • Details: Depending on conditions, we’ll adapt the route to match the group’s comfort level. Expect a full day in the canyons with packed lunches, and return in the evening for a hot meal at camp or a relaxing evening in town.

Day 3: Grand Finale

  • Objective: Tackle a stunning canyon like Micro Death Hollow or Upper Red Breaks. Micro Death Hollow starts with a 275’ rappel into the start of the canyon and has a pothole requiring swimming at times, so this would be conditions and group desire dependent. Upper Red Breaks is a beautiful, 5-6 hour canyon with less technicalities, but one that makes a good choice for those interested in practicing their rigging skills. Whatever objective chosen, know we will use the strengths and desires of the group as well as current conditions to decide what is best.

  • Details: After a hearty breakfast, we’ll embark on our last adventure, returning mid-afternoon to wrap up the trip and share stories before departing.

Throughout the trip, our experienced guides will ensure your safety and enjoyment while providing a seamless and comfortable experience, whether in hotels or the backcountry. Conditions and group abilities will always guide our daily objectives, ensuring the best possible adventure.
